UK no longer the 2nd largest Facebook market

Since its conception, the UK has been the second largest market using facebook until this week when Indonesia tripled users over the past year.  The Southeast Asian country is now 2nd and shows strong grown of Facebook in the growing users from Asia.  Facebook is now keen to push further their virtual products and credits in this new region.

Indonesia is the worlds 4th most populated region spread over thousands of islands but all those current and potential users accessing via the facebook login now allow the social network platform a vision for a bigger future.  As the pressure from Muslim clerics about the morality of Facebook fades then the social stigma of joining will become less of an issue.  The Islamic leaders have also showed signs that they could be happy with a regulated service as they did previously with other social networks.

In the last year and extra 17 million users from around the world have been login ing to facebook and world leaders have had no option but to embrace the platform - there is very little Indonesia can do.  The region has close to 70% of the population with an internet connection and a growing base of mobile net access.  As well as an above average population of the key age demographic: there is only one way this is going to go.

Research shows that the network games are of highest importance in this country and since facebook has now tied up a deal with a Malaysian payment processor the move to capitalise on this is in place.

The only real base to be covered is the availability of mobile technology solutions.  So far the apple iphones progress in the region is low as Nokia has the market share and dominated handsets.  Blackberry devices and android powered handsets are making the next best progress.  Only Facebook's development of low bandwidth apps will help
